Bewitched in the 'Burbs

Via Witchvox, I read an article about suburban pagans, thanks to Bewitched's release.

This line really chaffed my cheese: "Being a witch is a lifestyle, not a religion."

This is exactly what drives me crazy. What exactly is the witch lifestyle? Do I have to conduct rituals in my backyard, wear black every day and go running to the newspaper when there's some witchy-related thing in the media? And if witchcraft isn't a religion, why are these people conducting rituals with a "Wiccan priest" and concluding the article with "Witchcraft is about faith." Faith in...? That sounds like a religion to me.

So is the implication that b/c I resemble the Samantha-style witch insofaras dress, lifestyle, etc. I am a less-worthy witch? I'm not living "the" lifestyle?

Witchraft is a religion. It is not a lifestyle. Certainly it is a part of my lifestyle but it does not define it. That would make me a fundamentalist.
